In Japanese, “mio” can describe a channel of shallow water or the trail left behind a moving ship — an image the makers connected with low alcohol and sparkling bubbles. And in Italian, “mio” means “my.” The hope was that newcomers might discover a sake that felt like their own. Today, MIO is enjoyed in more than 40 countries around the world.

MIO was created to make sake feel easier and more casual to enjoy. Its name refers to a trail of bubbles left behind a boat — a nod to its sparkling character — and “mio” also means “mine” in Italian. With just 5% alcohol, it offers a light, playful way to discover sake.
